Florida man arrested for striking girlfriend repeatedly with a samurai sword

Gil Camacho is facing first degree murder charges.

A Florida man is facing first-degree attempted murder charges after he attacked his girlfriend with a samurai sword after she refused to stay in her bedroom on Sunday evening, the Sun-Sentinel reported.
Cops said Gil Camacho, 49, slashed his girlfriend on her arms in the attack at the couple's home.
The chilling episode began when Camacho ordered Maria Berrios to go to her bedroom and she instead, tried to leave the house. At one point, according to the report, Camacho removed the samurai sword from a stand and began hitting Berrios.
She put her hands up to protect her face and neck but felt the sword cut through to her bones.
Camacho's son then drove her to a local hospital and Camacho was arrested and being held without bond.
This is far from the first time that someone's been attacked with a samurai sword. In 2007, a 24-year-old seeking revenge on a former friend went to the wrong apartment and chopped off a random victim's pinky figure.
Camacho wasn't even the only person in Florida to injure someone with a sword this week.
On Tuesday in Boca Raton, a man was charged with striking his wife repeatedly with a machete - in front of their daughter, according to the newspaper.
